Book Project.
For our current brief we are making books about anything we like as long as it is in Leeds. There is so much flexibility and the diversity in the end results for the whole course will be so incredible. It is important to choose something that will keep my interest and passion to make this work well.
Initially, there were three ideas.
1. Hidden Gems. Looking at the loveliest places that are secret, untouched, or that not many people know about. Little gardens, parks, shops, beautiful architecture, views...
2. Street Fashion. But instead of in photographs, illustrated.
3. Relationships. Studying people, asking them what their greatest relationship with something or someone has been in Leeds, whether it be with people, objects, a place. Illustrating that person with whatever they choose.
But, it seems that fashion illustration is the way forward as I have been getting excited thinking about researching Julie Verhoeven firstly, then any other illustrators who inspire me along the way.
Some final image ideas are already forming in mind. Collographs and line drawings. Hints of colour. Lots of character and textures. Yes yes yes.
I do love street fashion but I am so aware that it has been done and done and redone and overdone.
So hopefully working in illustration and print will put my book in a place that does not lie with the million and one street fashion photography books that are already available.
