The Illustrated Lookbook.
During the group critique yesterday, this is the title we decided upon for my book project.
I wanted to go with something along the lines of, Lookbook Leeds or The Leeds Look but it was agreed that the inclusion of Leeds was less important than Illustrated.
I have been working on some illustrations for the book but now feel unsure as to whether or not I should keep doing what I'm doing or mix up the style of drawing.
Having looked at street fashion photography books, there is clearly no variation in the photos, always the whole person and always in colour.
But because this is illustrated fashion, there is opportunity to play around, but would this then become a book a where the focus is then the illustration instead of fashion?
In street fashion books, it is always about the fashion and never the skill of the photographer.
However, looking at fashion illustration books it is a complete turn around.
The intention of my book sits in the middle.
My gut tells me to make it about the fashion, keep the illustrations consistent. But as it is a book full of illustrations, would I be lowering the standard of my work by intentionally choosing to not show variety?
These are a couple I have done so far. Sorry for photobooth-ing, my scanner is being a bit odd.
Any opinions are welcome.
